Many people make the mistake of thinking that to get great looking abs and a six pack, you have to spend endless hours doing every different kind of ab exercise you can think of. Well the truth is, if you think like this, you couldn't be more wrong! If you want a six pack, you should only be doing very short ab workouts. Men and women that do any kind of weight or fitness training, will more than likely already have pretty good ab muscles, as they are used in pretty much every exercise and are the basis for true core strength, along with strong back muscles.  Ab Workouts Men and women can do are still important

But how can that be, if you don't have a six pack? Well the answer lies in what is on top of those abs. The vast majority of people don't have a six pack because they are being covered up by a layer of belly fat, that is hiding them from view.

So if you really want to have six pack abs, the first thing you need to do is lose that unwanted layer of fat from your stomach. How do you do this? Quite simply, you have to eat less, eat better foods and do more cardiovascular exercise.

Another myth that many people seem to believe is that you can choose where in your body to lose fat from. And this is something that several unscrupulous business men and women take advantage of by selling machines, workouts and other products that claim to be able to lose fat from your stomach. Well let me set you straight on this right away. Spot fat removal is impossible. You cannot chose to remove fat from your belly, love handles, chest etc. This is something that really frustrates me when it comes to weight training and fat loss. The number of people that come out with products promising you XY and Z, but in fact their products are almost useless. Most of the time, they won't do anything like what they promise, they will cost you a lot of money, and in some cases can be really dangerous. Don't buy them! All you can do is lower your overall body fat, and the body will choose where this will be taken from. Unfortunately for anyone that wants a six pack, the belly is usually one of the last places that fat is lost from.

So if you want to get a great looking six pack you must

  1. Eat less
  2. Eat better: Cut down on the fats and sugars. Simple things like not drinking sodas and not eating pre packaged ready meals can get you some incredible results.
  3. Do more cardiovascular exercise: Your ab muscles are being hidden under a layer of fat. If you want them to show, you need to lose this fat.
  4. Do 5-10 minutes of ab exercises at the end of your regular workout. You still need to do ab workouts men especially.  While ab exercises are not the most important thing in getting a six pack, they are still very useful. Strong abdominal muscles will help you in almost any sport as they will help strengthen your core and make you stronger. Strong ab muscles will also help you avoid injury to the back.
