Muscle Building Exercises
If you really want to build muscle fast, it is important for you to be doing the best muscle building exercises in order to get the best results out of your workouts. But don't be fooled into thinking that just by performing these exercises a couple of times and drinking a few protein shakes, that you will grow huge muscles and get in great shape overnight.
Building muscle and losing weight takes time, dedication and a good deal of effort on your part. If it was as easy as just doing a few sessions in the gym and gulping down a protein shake or two, everyone would be walking around with big muscles and rock hard abs.
So before I get onto the best muscle building exercises, I want to make sure you know the 3 most important things to build muscle.
- Nutrition. You need to give the body the right things to get good results. Plenty of protein, carbs, vegetables and fruits, as well as healthy fats are needed. Check out my page on muscle building diets for more info.
- Effective workouts. You don't build muscle by spending endless hour in the gym. You need to do the right kind of muscle building exercises, which I will look at in a minute.
- Rest. Your body needs time to recover and to heal. You don;t build muscle when you are working out. You build muscle when you are resting.
Okay now we have that out of the way, lets look at point number 2. Your workouts and the best muscle building exercises.
Undoubtedly the best muscle building exercises are compound, free weight exercises. Theses are exercises that you do just with a set of weights, or a pull-up bar, not machines. They work out a wide range of muscles and body parts, so they give you the most efficient workouts. By using several body part at once, you can also lift more weight, which is important for muscle building.
Here are some of the muscle building exercises that should be making up your workouts:
Bench Press – This exercise works out your triceps, pecs, shoulders, and upper back. When doing bench press you can lift quite a lot of weight, and certainly much more than if were doing muscle specific exercise.
Push-ups – A similar motion to the bench press, but you lift your own weight rather than free weights. Again the push-ups will give your arms, chest, shoulders and back a good workout.
Pull-ups – There really is no better exercise to work out the lats and back. But they can also give the arms and shoulders a fantastic workout.
Squats – This really should be at the core of every persons workout routines. Squats will workout almost every muscle in the legs, as well as the lower back.
Deadlifts – Another one that should be important to your workouts. They are fantastic at strengthening the back, but will also give the backs of your legs a good workout.
Military Press – This concentrates mainly on the arms, but will also make the shoulders and back work pretty hard.
Dips – These are really tough to do, and will make your triceps scream out in pain. They will also workout our shoulders and are excellent for increasing arm strength.
Barbell Curls – These aren't fancy, but will really push your biceps to their maximum. You can add quite a lot of weight to this exercise and they will really build up your arms quickly.
The exercises above focus on working out the most muscles possible in a short space of time, so are ideal if you want to build muscle fast. These are the best muscle building exercises and should make up a large part of your workout routines.
